Students from Brooksby Melton College
secure £1000 worth of sponsorship for pond design project
Fishery students from Brooksby Melton College have secured an amazing one thousand pounds worth of pond equipment from Hozelock Cyprio, the world's largest manufacturer and supplier of pond equipment. Students on the National Diploma in Fish Management recently visited Hozelock Cyprio at their manufacturing division in Sutton Coldfield. Two groups of students submitted their pond designs as part of their final year assessment and the company where so impressed with the designs, that they have given one thousand pounds worth of equipment as sponsorship, for the students to build their designs. The two ponds will be built over the next six months, at Brooksby Melton College's Wreakeside Centre, based outside Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. The indoor pond will enhance the Aquatics Unit at the Wreakeside Centre and the outdoor pond will be ideal for demonstrating the complexity of building and maintaining outdoor ponds. Students will have the opportunity of developing the pond site, translating design to construction. Hozelock Cyprio have also agreed to sponsor student awards at their Presentation Day next July as they believe that the quality education and training being delivered at the College means that the students will be very employable when they leave next year.
