![]() The fish courses of Brooksby Melton College have been successfully launching students on to their chosen careers for over 10 years. During this time, we have developed an excellent reputation for the expertise of our training, the experience gained on our courses and the calibre of the students who qualify. The college offers one and two year full time programmes (First and National Diplomas) and many part time courses studying such topics as fish health, fish spawning and water quality. Students manage a 10-acre fish farm producing 0.5 million cyprinids p.a. (carp, koi, goldfish, orfe amongst others) as part of their studies. As such, by studying at Brooksby Melton College, you'll have the knowledge and experience of exactly what's required to successfully manage a fish farm. Those students opting for the Fisheries courses have a great deal of experience managing the college's own 2 acre fishing lake, and by assessing and managing a wide variety of fisheries locally it is possible to develop an extensive knowledge of all aspects of fishery management. Aquatics students master the practicalities of planning, building and running a wide variety of aquarium systems in one of our two aquaria suites. From ornamental pond construction and large scale public displays of marine and tropical freshwater species, to individual projects on fish breeding and coral cultivation, the students develop an outstandingly broad knowledge of the practical and theoretical requirements for successful fish keeping. Brooksby has a strong commitment to equal opportunities.
