The scheme with East Midlands Electricity came to an end in January 2000. Despite our best efforts to negotiate attractive rates for members, we find that the market is moving too fast to keep up with falling tariffs and new suppliers. We have now joined forces with Auditel , a long established cost reduction consultancy firm in the utility and telecoms cost areas. Auditel will carry out an individual examination of your electricity bills to check for errors or possible improvements and to determine whether you are on the correct tariff. After this 'housekeeping' exercise, Auditel will recommend to you the most competitive supplier. This may vary depending on where you are and on your consumption profile. It will also change with time and Auditel will keep you informed of changes in the market that would bring further savings in the future. Auditel will present a formal written report and make recommendations which, if you agree, will be implemented by Auditel and continually monitored for an agreed period, normally one year. What savings can you expect? We hope they will be substantial. The first member of OATA to undertake a cost reduction exercise by Auditel is Peter Golding Ltd, board member of OATA, importer and wholesaler. By recommending a change of tariff, savings have already been realized of 18%. Further savings of 26% will be achieved by changing supplier making a total reduction of 44%. Other members who have tried Auditel are Kingston Koi Company in Hull, Neil Hardy Aquatica in Surrey and JMC Aquatics near Sheffield. They are all showing projected savings in excess of 30%. Is the service free? In a way, yes. There are no fees other than a minority share of savings after implementation. The percentage share of actual savings, for one year only, is as follows:
