All coldwater fish entering the UK from mainland Europe must be accompanied by Health Certificates. Illegal importation of any fish must be condemned outright and anyone with positive information about illegal fish imports should inform the proper authorities or Keith Davenport of OATA.

Illegal importation of diseased fish are much more serious and must be quickly stamped out. If not, they could have a catastrophic effect on our industry; not just from the immediate and practical sense of losses of stocks, but in the wider political sense of encouraging government to bring in restrictions in the trade of "foreign and infected fish that menace the indigenous British fish populations".
